Ezra Pound

In the same issue, p. [1], is printed, under the heading: “Fiamma sul Tigullio,” the (first) manifesto of the “Scrittori del Tigullio,” signed by Ezra Pound and four Italian writers, the names arranged alphabetically. At least a part of the manifesto was written by Pound. (It was printed also in broadside form, on a leaf of unwatermarked wove paper measuring 28.3 x 27.7 cm., with text beginning: GLI SCRITTORI DEL TIGULLIO salutano gli altri scrittori d’Italia, | dichiarando che: | [declaration in four sections] | GILBERTO GABURRI | EZRA POUND | EDGARDO ROSSARO | GIUSEPPE SOLDATO | MICHELE TANZI, [Rapallo? 1944].

A Secondo Manifesto del Tigullio, dated: 23 Mar. 1945, is also signed by Pound, with G. B. Nassano, Rossaro, and Soldato, and with Pound’s “Vivere in modo che le generazioni future abbiano a ringraziarti” quoted at upper right, but the text bears little evidence of his authorship.
